The agricultural marketing cooperatives can do much for their membership if they will stress the need for balanced, diversified farming. Some of the leading co-ops have long done this, with excellent results.
One-crop farming, which exhausts the lands, has been responsible for a great many of agriculture's ills. Soil can be worn out like a machine, and left barren and useless. More and more farmers are learning this-and their cooperatives are the logical instruments for advancing the immensely important cause of proper soil utilization.
