At the Court at St. James's July 10, 1765. Present, The KING's most Excellent Majesty in Council.
His day his Grace William Henry Duke of Portland, Lord Chamberlain of his Majesty's Household, his Grace Augustus Henry Duke of Grafton, the most Honourable Charles Marquis of Rockingham, the Right Honourable Henry Seymour Conway, Esq; and the Right Honourable William Dowdeswell, Esq; Chancellor and under Treasurer of his Majesty's Exchequer, were by his Majesty's Command, sworn of his Majesty's most Honourable Privy Council, and took their respective Places at the Board accordingly.
His Majesty having been pleased to appoint his Grace Augustus Henry Duke of Grafton, and the Right Honourable Henry Seymour Conway, Esq; to be his Majesty's principal Secretaries of State, they were this day, by his Majesty's Command, sworn his Majesty's principal Secretaries of State accordingly.
St. James's, July 12. His Majesty in Council was this day pleased to declare the Right Honourable Daniel Earl of Winchilsea and Nottingham, Lord President of his Majesty's most Honourable Privy Council, and his Lordship took his Place at the Board accordingly.
This day the Right Honourable Richard Earl of Scarborough, John Earl of Ashburnham, William Earl of Besborough, and George Bussy Villiers, Esq; commonly called Lord Viscount Villiers, Vice Chamberlain of his Majesty's Household, were, by his Majesty's Command, sworn of his Majesty's most Honourable Privy Council, and took their respective Places at the Board accordingly.
Whitehall, July 13. The King has been pleased to appoint Charles Marquis of Rockingham, Knight of the most Noble Order of the Garter, the Right Hon. William Dowdeswell, Esq; the Hon. John Cavendish, Esq; commonly called Lord John Cavendish, Thomas Townshend, and George Onslow, Esqs. to be Commissioners for executing the Office of Treasurer of his Majesty's Exchequer.
The King has been pleased to grant unto the Right Hon. William Dowdeswell, Esq, the Offices of Chancellor and under-Treasurer of his Majesty's Exchequer.
LONDON,
July 16. All necessary Preparations are making at the Queen's Palace, against her Majesty's lying-in, which is expected some time next Month.
The Hon. Mr. Charles Yorke is said to have been offered a Peerage, but declined it.
The Canada Bills were done at Paris, on the 8th Inst. at 34 per Cent. which gives People some Hopes that they will be paid off in a short Time.
It is confidently reported that two of our West-India Islands, and some Places on the Continent, will be declared Free Ports. Many People expect the speedy Dissolution of Parliament.
The Prince of Orange is expected soon to arrive in England.
