Full Text
Pittsburg, Pa. Feb. 9.
We have seen and conversed with a number of the Pittsburg volunteers, arrived here yesterday from Erie. They state that at the time they left Erie (Friday evening last) no apprehensions of an attack by the British were entertained --that the lake was still open--that, until it closed, the idea of an attempt on our fleet was preposterous--that for a number of years so mild a winter had not been known in those northern regions--and that peace and security would, in all probability, reign triumphant. Our fleet and army, however, in any event, are prepared to do their duty.
