Full Text

The last Letters from Constantinople confirm the Opinion of the Russian Council, assuring us, that the Grand Signior had absolutely rejected all Thoughts of an Accommodation, by which Azoph was to be relinquished to the Crown of Russia, and that the Khan had again declared, the utmost his Highness could do in that Affair, would be only a Cession of some Part of Crim Tartary, together with Precop, to keep the Tartars within Bounds, and prevent their Irruption, into the Russian Territories. These Dispositions render a War unavoidable, and accordingly all Preparations for opening the Campaign are redoubled on the Emperor's Part, in Concert with the Court of Russia, Orders being sent to all the Regiments in the Hungarian Provinces, to be in Readiness to march by the End of this Month, and join the Troops assembled at Passarowitz, which are to be augmented to 70,000 Men.
