Full Text
Where the nation is paralyzed in agricultural products only kept from rotting on their carriers hands by a fortunate foreign demand; its currency deranged and disordered; its public councils distracted; and the people confounded by the evils under which they suffer, and the dangerous "experiments" which are proposed and almost forced upon them, it is the part of wisdom to look for counsel and direction, not to those who have plunged us into ruin, but rather to those who warned us of the gulph that yawned at our feet, & who can extricate us, as they could have prevented us from plunging into the abyss, had we not turned a deaf ear to their advice.
