SARGEANT

Threshing—Improvements.

Olds is drawing lumber for a new barn 54x80.

Two weddings are expected in our town pretty soon.

Our blacksmith, Mr. Peterson, has put up a buggy shed.

Our harness maker, John Parker, is quite busy nowadays.

Lewis Bungum was threshing for Mathias Exse last week.

Peter Wigen has made some improvements on his place.

John Wall of Waltham was drawing lumber from here last week.

G. C. Foreman has a store building, with living rooms above, to rent.

School was closed Friday afternoon in the district east of the village.

The flying stock buyer, Levi Grainger, was in our town Wednesday.

Our landlord, Mr. Knutson, has built an addition to his house 12x14.

Some of Mr. Heydt's folks have been sick for the last week with a bad cold.

Mr. Waldron was quite busy Saturday putting in a sidewalk on Water street.

Max Koplen was expected home last week. He has been visiting in California and Oregon.

The Vernon creamery paid out $36,814.31 to patrons in 1896. Their total receipts were $52,656.38.

If you are in need of wall paper go to Nelson & Son. They have just received a lot of samples.

Rev. M. B. Crichett will preach in the Union church Sunday afternoon and Rev. Wolder in the evening.

A man from Austin has rented the lower part of G. Foreman's hall and intends to start a lunch counter and pool table.

Diphtheria seems to start again in the family of L. Jacobson. Another of their boys died about a week ago. The family have the sympathy of the community.

A little daughter of P. W. Jensen, aged 2 years and 4 months, died Thursday night. She was buried Saturday afternoon. The bereaved have our heartfelt sympathy.
