NEW PORT, Jan. 29.

YESTERDAY in the afternoon we hear there was a very handsome collection at the church of England, in this town, for the relief of Mr. Thomas Allen, of Prudence, in this colony, a very poor man, whose circumstances are really deplorable, having a wife who by sickness has been a long time blind, and 11 children, 7 of whom were born blind; which charitable collection is truly laudable, and worthy imitation, and it is hoped will be followed by all the other congregations in this town and colony.
