A 32-year-old Sandy Springs man died from a leg gunshot wound early yesterday in a post Thanksgiving Day altercation which apparently erupted during a drinking spree, police reported Saturday.
Oscar Columbus Seals, whose address was reported as 6565 Glenridge Drive, N. E., Sandy Springs, Ga., was pronounced dead on arrival Saturday at Grady Hospital.
His body was temporarily left at the Grady Morgue, pending further investigation after effects of an apparent party among relatives wore off. Detective Sgt. L. L. Hause and Det. W. S. Acree disclosed.
Seals, badly wounded in his right leg from a shot gun blast, was driven to Grady from Sandy Springs by Oscar Pruitt, of a Barfield Drive address.
After first investigation, police arrested Willie Jones, 31, of Route 1, Sandy Springs, (Duvall Alley) in connection with the shooting.
Ptl. R. W. Bagwell and C. T. Barnett said reports indicated Jones had attempted to avoid the shooting by backing into a corner as far as possible before shooting.
Witnesses were quoted as saying Seals leaped upon Jones after the shooting and was pulled off by Johnny Binns, 40, of Route 1, Sandy Springs, before effects of the wound set in.
