NEW YORK (ANP) The Technical Committee on Communications for the Midcentury White House Conference on Children and Youth last week had its second meeting.
Marvin Beers, director of communication, reported on the progress of conference plans and outlined plans for press coverage and panel work as well as group work on mass media.
Miss Elma Phillipson, director of post-conference program, stated plans for "follow-up" on the conference.
Each member of the committee received a fact finding report called "Children and Youth at the Midcentury." This book represents a thorough study of problems in the field of education as well as they affect the youth of this country. The study was made by 68 experts in the field of education and allied subjects including Dr. E. Franklin Frazier and Dr. Alain Locke, both of Howard university.
Members of the technical communications committee also were given advanced preliminary programs of the Conference which will be held at the White House December 3-7.
Among members attending the meeting were Mrs. Alice A. Dunnigan representing ANP, and the only Negro member of the committee; John B. Darby of the New York News Service; Donald C. Cameron of the American Book Publishers council; Louise B. Shotwell of the Home Missions council.
