CHICAGO. August 21.--J. O. Bragman, editor of the Democrat, was arrested this morning for robbing the Post Office drawer of money. He waived an examination.
BOSTON. August 21. -It is reported that Blanchard, Sherman & Co., have suspended in consequence of the failure of Bates & Co.
NEW YORK, Aug. 22.--Sales of Cotton to-day 750 bales and firm. Flour duller. Wheat heavy. Corn 85a90c. Pork, Whisky and Bacon firm.; Lard 16c.; Rice 5c.; muscovado Sugar 8a10c.
The steamer Fulton sailed for Havre to-day.
CINCINNATI, Aug. 22.-Flour $5 00a5 25; Corn. 68c., Oats 30c.; Whisky 28 1/2 c.; Provisions firm.
R. P. Lane has been nominated for Governor Iowa by the Republicans.
Woodland, Wisconsin was destroyed yesterday by a hurricane.
ST. LOUIS. August 22. Advices state that a battle was fought on Gila river between the Apaches and Col. Miles command, in which 25 Indians were killed and wounded, and 11 whites were wounded.
LOUISVILLE, August 22. —Thustin & Ely, wholesale grocers, have suspended business. Weather cool.
NEW YORK, August 22. -Henry J. Wagstaff, well-known lawyer, was shot dead this morning by J. S. Sims, an actor. Cause, business difficulties.
The entry clerk at the St. Nicholas Hotel has been arrested for the embezzlement of $20,000.
