More About Secret Ballot

Last week we informed you how a proposal to require secret voting for the election of directors of the American Telephone & Telegraph Co. (A. T. & T.) was voted down at a meeting of the firm's stockholders.

Well, AT&T stockholders and management are not the only ones who don't like the idea of the secret ballot. The stockholders of General Electric Co. also think it has no place in management.

At a meeting last week of General Electric stockholders in Schenectady, N. Y., a proposal for use of the secret ballot was voted down by 98.4%! The proposal, under company rules, cannot be introduced again for four years.

As they say in management, the secret ballot is fine for unions but don't try any of that jazz around here, Jack!
