Woman, Dr.

What a world of woe that woman brings!
A world of sorrow, grief and pain!
From her all evils have their springs,
The first of female brain.

From her sprang, led poor Adam
From Eden, and astray;
From her came sorrow, still the madam,
Proud directs the way.

Matrimony is a slavish pleasure,
Brings a coquetish train,

What! the mighty treasure,
Wedded to drag a golden chain.

Wedlock and constant brawling,
And domestic strife;
Neighbours, children brawling,
The low woman made a wife.

Pride and haughty carriage,
Fond of bel in ice fled and gone:
The bitter fruits of marriage,
Man's wise will let alone!

From woman spring
The shafts of bliss and purest peace,
She can comfort bring,
Her bosom showed her face

When primeval good honest Adam,
Received the gift with open arms,
E'en for his madam,
Great prized her charms.

The thrill the soul with pleasure
When she's blush on beauty's cheek;
Allude to a treasure
Love it their crowns to seek

Tasks and constant courting
Tire gall the toils of life;
Children, harmless sporting,
The low woman made a wife!

Mild and gentle carriage,
Triumphant on his throne;
Peaceful fruits of marriage,
No foul would live alone.
