Full Text

A Remarkable Mirage.—The Oswego Times says, the phenomena of mirage on Lake Ontario was witnessed by many of our citizens yesterday, to a degree we never before heard of. From the high point near the fort, Prince Edward's Island completely across the lake on the Canada shore, could be seen distinctly. The Duck and Galloo Islands were so plainly marked out that the trees and small objects on the shore were plainly seen. Even the ice in the Stony Island passage leading to Sackett's Harbor was visible. The distance from Oswego to Stony Island is about thirty-five miles—that across the lake must be sixty or more.
