Full Text
The Herkimer Convention.—We apprehend there will be some difficulty in procuring a candidate to run against Gov. Clinton at the ensuing election. The Albany Argus of Thursday contains the following: The name of Nathan Sandford having been mentioned in conversations and discussions concerning the selection of a person for the office of Governor, we are authorised to state that Mr. Sandford will not be a candidate at the next election. It would be an honor to almost any man to come within 20,000 votes of equalling Governor Clinton; but nobody would like being left so far behind in a race, that it would require the aid of a spy-glass to see him.—N. Y. Spectator.
