A JUST RECOGNITION.
We are glad to notice, that, on the Union county and district tickets already formed in this State, the claims of the soldiers are justly recognized, by the nomination of men who have rendered efficient service on the field of battle. To be consistent with their past course, the Union men of Ohio must practice recognition in their county as well as their State nominations. During the war, the soldier had no friends at home, in a political sense, save those who stood by the Government. The copperheads opposed the extension of the elective franchise to the American soldier, as a means of disgracing him before the nations of the world; the same party sought to illegalize the laws necessary to raise money to meet the bounties which were paid to the soldier and the relief which was extended to his family. All these measures were supported and carried by the Union men, and it is now consistent that the same party should seek to confer honors on the soldiers who have survived the horrors of the war.-
The men who were willing to peril life and limb in defence of a great and a pure Government, are worthy of the highest honors of a free people.
