JAS. T. WILSON SHOULD BE RE-ELECTED
Next Tuesday, May 6, we go to the polls to cast our votes in the Primary for Governor, state senators, legislators, state superintendent of schools, state attorney and other state officials: circuit judges, sheriff, county tax assessor, county superintendent and other county officials.
This is an important election and we should have a record vote.
For weeks we have been listening to campaign speeches, talkathons, and candidates being queried over the radio. No doubt many of us have made up our minds as to how we will cast our vote. We will not all vote for the same candidates, but the important thing to do is vote for your choice.
Among those seeking re-election is James T. Wilson, superintendent of the Board of Public Instruction. Mr. Wilson has been in this office for fifteen years. His record should be well known. During his administration Dade County schools have come a long way. Six or seven new schools have been built, four are under construction, and appropriations have been made for four others.
There are other accomplishments we might mention, but they are known and we do not think it necessary. Mr. Wilson has a good record.
Mr. W. R. Thomas who opposes Mr. Wilson, has been an educator for many years and served about twenty-seven years as principal of Miami High School. He resigned to seek this office. Should he be elected, we believe he would fill the office efficiently. However, the Miami Times believes the voters of Dade County should re-elect James T. Wilson upon his record.
Further recommendations for state and county officials will be made in our next issue.
