40 Boys Sign Up For Scout Work
Ten Patrol Leaders Selected To Direct Courses For New Entries
Registration of forty boys under the new, community-wide Boy Scout program and the division of fifty boys into ten patrols was accomplished within the past week according to Scoutmaster R. B. Kowalke. This new high in Scout registration represents an increase in registered Scouts of more than 200 per cent.
When this plan was adopted setting up a single troop for Sauk Centre, it was hoped that a hundred percent increase would be noted within ten days. In registration alone that expectation has been doubled, and there are still about ten boys, who attended the last meeting, that are not registered. In addition there are some fourteen waiting to be assigned to patrols boosting the total number to sixty-four registered and non-registered Scouts. Including the seven assistant Scoutmasters that number is raised to a high of 71 actively engaged in Scout work.
Directing the courses of these newer Scouts are ten patrol leaders chosen as follows: Lloyd Wruck, John Parker, Mickey Hansen, Jim Rathe, Joe Jackson, Russell Larson, Bud Hunt, Ray Berggreen, Merlin Pickett, and Willis Lovesee. Additional patrol leaders will be chosen from the list of George Conkey, Dudley Morse, Donald Dezell, and Jim Pangburn. There are some eighteen waiting to be placed into patrols which will be accomplished within a week. At the last meeting nearly fifty Scouts were designated to work under the above ten older Scouts. Directing the troop as a unit will be Warren Peglow, assigned to the position of Senior Patrol Leader.
Each week finds several more boys interested in the movement, but still the call is issued by the Scoutmaster for more boys. It is expected that the end of the week will find a completely registered troop of nearly sixty-five Boy Scouts.
