Full Text
Old Granny Sumner has almost disarmed the State by taking away the arms that were here. We have no means of getting any, or of manufacturing munitions of war. Would we not be left at the mercy of the enemy?—Marysville Express.
The Appeal thinks "Old Granny Sumner" will never be forgiven for thwarting the secession plot that was to be carried out by his predecessor, the pure patriot Johnston, who is now fighting to restore peace in the rebel army. We would have been at the mercy of the enemy indeed, but for Sumner's timely arrival.
