AUG. 19.

The French Consul at this place, has, we understand, received a letter from the French Minister at Washington, informing, that a letter had been received by him from General Ferrand, which states, that the schooner Iris, Capt. Pearson, captured on her voyage from Porto-Rico to this port in May last, had been carried into St. Domingo, (the City) where she had been tried and acquitted, and the captors condemned to pay damages. We record this act of justice with pleasure, and shall be happy to credit the same account with a similar article in every day's Ledger, until the large balance yet remaining is liquidated.
