By a Gentleman who came in here last Saturday from Albany, we learn, That some of the Enemy have appear'd in small scouting Parties between the two Forts, this side the Lake, but have done no Mischief: That the Troops which went from hence under General Amherst, arrived at Green Bush near Albany, last Saturday se'nnight, -- where they have encamped, and the General proceeded to the Encampment at Lake George; but was since returned, and may be expected in Town in a Day or two: That the Expedition against Ticonderoga was laid aside, as the Season is so far advanced, they having already had Snow at the Lake; and that the Troops are immediately to proceed into Winter Quarters.

'Tis said the 2d Battalion of the Royals, and Col. Fraser's Highlanders are to be posted at the German-Flats, where there is now a very fine Stone Fort erected; that Forbes's, Lascelles's and Webb's Regiments were to be quartered at New York and Connecticut. and that General Wolfe, with Amherst's, Anstruther's, and Bragg's Regiments, lately returned from Gaspee, were to spend the Winter with us here.
