BOSTON. Sept. 23..U. S. Rep. Robert Ramspeck (D-Georgia) declared that "anybody who is going around the country destroying confidence in the foreign policy of our government-like Lindbergh-is doing a great wrong."
Addressing the National Association of Postmasters, Ramspeck said that the lease-lend act had been properly enacted by congress, that other laws establishing our foreign policy were being properly interpreted by the President, and that anybody attempting to make them ineffective was bordering on disloyalty to the government.
He asserted that if anybody wanted to repeal these laws, that was a different thing, but that as long as they were the laws of the land, the President should be given the support of all of the people, Republicans as well as Democrats. He said the time for argument on the nation's foreign policy ended when these laws were enacted.
Ramspeck said that lease-lend bill was enacted not only to aid Britain but because our self-interest to guard against Hitler reaching American shores.
"I believe it is inevitable," he declared. That if Hitler wins, we will eventually have to face him by ourselves because he has created a force over there that will destroy him unless he keeps it busy."
U. S. Rep John W. McCormack, house majority floor leader, said that the President in this "crisis is taking practical steps to keep us out of war, but if war does come it will be because Hitler has thrust it upon us."
