The Year of Jubilee

The democrats had arranged a jubilation for Saturday night, but on mature deliberation concluded to postpone it for a little more assurance that there is really something to be happy about. They'd better indulge Monday evening, for if they wait until the official count in New York on Tuesday the chances are that they'll not jubilee at all.-Union.

The democrats did nothing of the sort. There was some talk of a jubilee on Saturday evening, but early in the day it was decided to wait until Wednesday or Thursday evening, when the official count would be received, and then the people will have an opportunity to witness one of the greatest political jollifications ever seen in Rock Island. "Hold the fort, for we are coming."
