A Korean reporter is in Jackson to study racial discrimination.
As an initial step, Kyung Sung Lee visited the City Council meeting Friday.
He didn't learn much about discrimination but he was indiscriminately exposed to the toothy charm of Mayor Allen Thompson.
Thompson insisted that Lee inspect Jackson's facilities for Negroes which the mayor describes as the finest anywhere.

as the finest anywhere.
Lee didn't say he would but he didn't say he wouldn't. He appeared somewhat bewildered by Thompson.
He did, however, make a short speech during which he told how he came to the U. S. under auspices of the State Department.
Lee said he intended to stay in Jackson a month. He is living at the YMCA.
Prior to coming to Jackson, he completed a six-weeks journalism course at Northwestern University and then spent some time in California.
Lee is a political reporter for the Pyong Hwa Daily News at Seoul. He said his newspaper is one of 14 in Korea and competition is fierce.
"You have to keep scooping all the time," he said.
Lee, who is 29, said he makes 60,000 hwan a month in Korea which is equivalent to $120 in American money.
But he said he gets along well on his salary in Korea because prices are cheaper.
"I support my wife, mother, and three children on my salary," he said.
