TO THE EDITOR—

dated WASHINGTON. Feb. 9th, 1814.

I enclose you in 7 packets, the report from the War Department, relating to the military operations of last year, &c.

The House of Representatives are now engaged in discussing a little bill to relieve certain vessels from the operation of the Embargo, which permits them to return to their proper port. It delays our friend Mr. Eppes from opening the Treasury budget on the loan bill, which he will call up to-day (if permitted) and then develope his views of the resources, &c. of the nation—I suspect he will give us a further evidence of his valuable intellectual resources.
