STEENER JACOBSON HAS A MOST UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE
Fast Work By John Bann and Rev. Harris Saves Him From Death
While working in the sewer ditch leading to the Methodist church, last Tuesday. Steener Jacobson had about as unpleasant an experience as one could wish for. He had tunneled under overhanging earth a few feet and was about to put the last section of pipe in place. John Bann had just stepped back to get it for him when the earth dropped without warning. Steener was knocked forward, his shovel handle striking him in the chest and snapping off like a pipe stem under the weight as his body lunged forward. The earth covered him to a depth of more than a foot. John jumped into the ditch and worked furiously to release him, Rev. Harris taking up the work when he was exhausted, and together they managed to extricate him from his perilous position. Steener was uninjured save for the shock. the loss of breath and bruises about the chest where the shovel handle struck him. Before an hour had passed he had regained his composure and was back at work
