CHILDREN'S HOME BURNS: MATRON PERISHES

ALLIANCE, O., Nov. 9. The lives of scores of children were imperiled and Miss Lillian Burdette, matron, was burned to death, in a fire that partially destroyed the Fairmount Children's home, near here, early today. Twenty-six children and six other persons were rescued from a cottage occupied by the matron.

An oil house, a new $30,000 cottage for girls and other structures nearby were saved with difficulty by volunteer firemen.

The home is operated by Stark and Columbiana counties jointly.
