At a special meeting Monday of the Hernando county school board, bids were opened for the ten school bus routes in the county. Contracts for bus routes were awarded as follows: No. 1, serving Masaryktown and Brooksville, to A. H. Ramsey; No. 5, Brooksville and Istachatta, to J. C. Graham; No. 6, Spring Lake and Brooksville, to C. G. French; No. 7, serving school district No. 7 (Spring Lake), to Dorman Batten; No. 8, Aripeka school, to O. B. Bondurant; No. 9, Riverland community, to R. M. Price. The Mondon Hill colored school route was awarded to Andrew Chester, and the Bay Spring colored route to Ellis Anderson. Awards for the Croom and Hammock routes, Nos. 2 and 4, respectively, were postponed until the next regular meeting of the board in July.
The board accepted the resignation of Miss Louise Rice, who had been appointed a member of the Hernando High school faculty for her second year, as English and journalism teacher. Miss Arline Gray Lockhart was appointed a member of the high school faculty. The post of science teacher is the only vacancy in the high school at present, said E. R. Russell, county superintendent, in whose office the board met. A full board was present, including J. M. Rogers, chairman; H. G. Thompson, and J. P. Kimbrough.
