WARSAW. (By Inprecorr Press Service)-Mass demonstration took place in Vilna in connection with the new trial against the leader of the suppressed West White-Russian Workers and Peasants Hromada, Comrade Tarashkievitch. The demonstration was broken up by the police twice, but assembled again.
Dvortchania and Gretzki, two deputies of the West White-Russian workers and peasants block spoke to the masses.
The police separated the two from the masses and manoeuvred them into the arms of a gang of Fascists who beat them up severely while the armed police held back the workers and prevented a rescue.
The proceedings against Tarashkievitch were quashed on the ground that the charges against him had already been dealt with in the former trial which brought him a sentence of 12 years hard labor.
