When this issue of the Sidney Herald reaches you we will be well on our way toward the peak of the Christmas rush. There will be many times when we are literally swamped and even with the help of four Christmas assistants we will wonder if we will ever see the light. And then, on the 24th day of December - at - noon - it will be quiet suddenly, so quiet that the personnel will be stunned. Another Christmas season is over, except the cleanup. On Christmas Day the personnel of the office will be thinned to take care of only the essentials. Parcels, believed to be Christmas parcels, will be delivered Christmas morning.
The Postal Department has again helped to make your Christmas a joyous and thankful one.
On Saturday the 20th, of December the windows will be open all day instead of closing at noon as is generally done. It is hoped that parcels and cards will be mailed early by our many thousands of patrons. Last year the Christmas season, altho rough at times, went along smoothly but it must be remembered that we had good weather. This year, we are led to believe, the weather man will have a mean streak. He may pile the streets and roads with ice and drifted snow and the expeditious handling of the mails will be impossible. So in order that your relatives and friends receive the parcels and cards you have sent before Christmas you are especially urged to please mail now - at once.
