NEW YORK. - Spokesmen for the liberal wings of the two major political parties will be heard in important addresses at the 50th annual convention of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People which opens here on July 13 and continues through July 19.
Senator Hugh Scott, Pennsylvania Republican and consistent supporter of civil rights legislation, will be the principal speaker at a session on civil rights. Tuesday afternoon, July 14. The following morning, a Minnesota Democrat, and staunch advocate of equal rights, Senator Hubert Humphrey, will address a session on political and legislative action.
Except for the closing mass meeting on Sunday afternoon, July 19, all sessions of the convention will be held in the New York Coliseum.
The final session will be a giant rally in the Polo Grounds with songs by Mahalia Jackson and addresses by Jackie Robinson, Roy Wilkins and others. Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller, Borough President Hulan Jack and Dr. Channing H. Tobias will be the principal speakers at the opening session in the Coliseum on the night of July 13.
