Bishop J. Arthur Hamlett, President of the Christian Service Center, Inc., Kansas City, Missouri, will deliver the 1960 Commencement Sermon at the J. P. Campbell College, Sunday, May 22 in the S. L. Greene Auditorium on the college campus.
Bishop Hamlett was educated in the public schools of Tennessee. His ministerial training was received at the Garrett Biblical Institute, and Gammon Theological Seminary. He completed his resident work for the Ph. D. degree at Northwestern University.
He has served the C. M. E. Church as Pastor, Editor and Bishop.
President Robert M. Stevens of the J. P. Campbell College announces that the college in its 70th Commencement will have the largest graduation in the history of the school. The commencement activities are as follows: Thursday, May 19, Senior Class Night; Friday, May 20, 7:00 p. m., Honors Night; Sunday, May 22, 5 o'clock in the evening, Bishop J. Arthur Hamlett will deliver the Commencement Sermon; Monday, May 23, 7:00 in the evening, College Class Night; Tuesday, May 24, 10:30 in the morning, the Annual Trustee Board Meeting; and, at 7:30 in the evening, Reverend T. H. Brown, Tuskegee Institute, Alabama, will deliver the Alumni Address; Wednesday, May 25, 10:00 in the morning, Dr. John H. Adams, President, Paul Quinn College, Waco, Texas will deliver the Commencement Address.
This graduation will also mark an historical occasion in that the first graduates of the school of Cosmetology will be presented.
Outstanding churchmen of the African Methodist Episcopal Church will be present to witness the Commencement Activities.
