LONDON.
On hearing the elegant FORDYCE preach.
O graceful FORDYCE, lucent northern Star,
Attracts the wand'ring sceptic from afar;
Sublime in eloquence he points the way
To certain mansions of eternal day;
Whilst he instructs the learn'd to preach, the great to pray,
The greedy audience, crowding to admire,
And bless those lips, touch'd with celestial fire;
Such truth, such grace, on ev'ry accent hung,
Such rapt'rous harmony flows from his tongue,
You'd think 'twas he the royal lyre had strung.
