QUAIL SEASON CLAIMS
FIRST ARIZONA VICTIM

PHOENIX, Oct. 17.—Louis Cuber, Jr., 14 year-old son of a local garage proprietor, was shot and fatally wounded while hunting quail in the Eagle Day mountains, 75 miles southwest of Phoenix this afternoon. This is the first fatality of the quail season in Arizona, which opened at sunrise Saturday morning.

The boy died 35 miles west of Phoenix as his father, uncle and brother, who were with him when he was shot, was rushing him to this city in their automobile. The youth was killed when a shotgun which was standing beside the car, fell over, the charge striking him in the left leg, according to the story told by the other members of the party.
