Investigating Alleged Irregularities in Force--To Submit Evidence to Mayor.

Persistent rumors current in city over Sunday to the effect the board of fire and police commissioners is making an investigation of the police department were substantiated today by members of the board, who stated that they are probing the activities of the department in connection with vice conditions in the city.

Alleged irregularities in the department prompted the investigation on the part of the board, but definite action has not been taken, pending the return of Mayor H. M. Schriver, who has been out of the city two weeks on vacation. He is expected to return within the next few days, and the police commissioners will lay the result of the investigation before him.
