From the Paris A-la-Main, April 8. Our Letters from Genoa of the 25th of last Month, say, that they have received Advice from Bastia of the 14th, that the French Troops are actually battering the Post of Monte-Maggiore, and that a great Body of Rebels have advanced towards that Place; but that they have had no positive News of what passes there, on account of the contrary Winds, which have hindered any Ships from coming from Calvi. They add, that a Party of the Rebels came in the Night, and set fire to a House in the Pieve of Nebbio, but the Inhabitants taking the Alarm in Time, the Fire was soon extinguished; since which, they have been offered a Body of Troops to protect them from any Insults, and, at the same Time, make a Diversion on that Side in order to facilitate the taking of Monte-Maggiore; but they refused this Offer, and made Answer, that they were able to defend themselves. According to these Advices, the Body of Rebels marching to the Relief of Monte-Maggiore amounts to 5000 Men. The Marquis de Maillebois is expected every Day at Bastia.
