LOCAL AND PERSONAL.

O. L. Richmond of Alville was in town Monday.

W. S. Myers left for Portland last Thursday.

Earl Bevie was a passenger for Moro last Friday.

W. L. Barker was a passenger for Portland Monday morning.

Frank Shannon was a passenger for Portland Thursday morning.

Jeff Hill left last Thursday morning for an extended visit at Portland.

Mrs. B. F. Wilkes and daughter returned from The Dalles Saturday evening.

Chas. Brown and family left last Saturday for a few weeks visit at their ranch.

Mrs. Lawson, mother of Claud Lawson of this city arrived from The Dalles Thursday evening.

The schools, churches and places of amusement are still closed on account of the diphtheria scare.

E. H. Thompson of Bridal Veil was in town this week in the interest of the Bridal Veil Lumber Co.

J. W. Shipley of Heppner was in the city this week in the interest of the Mutual Life Insurance Co.

R. W. Pike, candidate for representative for this district was a passenger for Arlington Friday morning.

J. E. Kennedy, father of Dr. Kennedy of this city and Mrs. Etcheson were passengers for Portland Monday morning.

W. W. Overlander and family left for Hood River Monday morning, at which place they expect to make their future home.

Miss Blanche Barton returned from Clem Saturday evening. Miss Barton has been visiting Miss Danneman at that place.

P. Comstock left last Thursday for the Six Prong country in Washington. Mr. Comstock has a homestead in that neck of the woods.

Albert Stall is erecting a seven room house on his lots in Moyer's addition. The Lost Valley Lumber Co. is furnishing the lumber.

H. Connel, road-master for this division of the O. R. & N. Ry. Co. was in the city this week looking after the company's interests.

Geo. Gibbons of Mayville was a passenger for Olex Monday morning. Mr. Gibbons shipped a car load of hogs to Troutdale this week.

In a few months we will know whether or not we are to meet with success in obtaining water from the new city well. It is now down some 504 feet and has about 200 feet of water.

B. Gormley left for Prineville Saturday morning. Mr. Gormley has closed up his tailor shop at this place for the time being and may not return.

Jack Shelton, the county assessor and Jesse Barton are working on the present ownership books this week and will be after you about March first.

Among the list of new subscribers to the Globe this week are: Geo. Angell, Wm. Dunlap, Gus Morris, James Dann, T. G. Watson, W. A. Lee and H. M. Hoss.

E. Weir of this city has gone into the poultry business. He has fitted up his lots in Lord's addition for that purpose and will handle only blooded stock.

L. D. Bosworth, the popular clerk of S. B. Barker & Co. said good-bye to Condon Monday morning and departed for Portland where he has a good position.

The residence of Mrs. Scott of Portland was almost wholly destroyed by fire last Thursday. Mrs. Scott is the mother of Mrs. John Jackson of this city.

The Eldaw-Fehrenbacher Vaudeville Company will not show in Condon on March 1st, as stated in the Globe in our last issue. The date has been changed to March 9th.

W. E. Patten returned from Moro Friday evening. Mr. Patten was called there by the serious illness of his daughter and left her very much improved in health.

D. R. Parker has let the contract for building a five room cottage to Kiser & Hoss of this city. The cottage will be erected in Mann's addition and work will commence in the near future.
