Proving her popularity among nearly two hundred J-Hi students, Birdie Jensen was elected to preside as queen of festivities at the formal dedication of the Douglas Bridge Sunday, October 13. Miss Jensen, a member of the senior class, will represent Juneau in the capital city's part of the grand celebration.
Six girls, including representatives from each of the three other classes, were also elected to serve as maids of honor. They are Emma Ness, Sybil Godfrey, Nola Mae Seelye, Jean Boyer, Patricia Hussey, and Marguerite Hickey.
Plans for the election were discussed by Mr. A. B. Phillips before the student body at a meeting held last Tuesday afternoon at 3:25. A short assembly was called Wednesday morning, at which time nominations for queen and for her attendants were made. Voting was done by secret ballot during the regular class periods.
