A REMARKABLE HISTORY.-John Tyler was elected to the U. S. Congress from the Richmond District in Nov. 1816-just 45 years ago. Since that time: he's been Governor of Virginia, Senator in the Federal Congress, soon after member of the celebrated Virginia Convention of 1829-30, member of the House of Delegates of Virginia, Vice-President of the United States, member of the Sovereign Convention of Virginia of 1861, member of the National Peace Congress of 1861, and President of the same, member of the present Provisional Confederate Congress, and now he is elected to the first Congress of the Confederate States by the votes of the children and grand children of the constituents of his early career,-- Richmond Enquirer.
