A CERTAIN bishop was once engaged in his nocturnal lucubrations at a late hour in the evening, when hearing a noise at the window of his study, he looked about and saw a man. The bishop said, "who is there?" the man replied Apostolus Domini, (i. e. an Apostle of the Lord.) The Bishop instantly grasped his pistol, and saying Receive Spiritum Sanctum. (i. e. Receive the holy spirit, fired him dead on the spot—The man was found to have been a noted Robber.
