Full Text

A LAUDABLE ACT.
The officers and employees, and a number of soldiers from the Quartermaster's Department, manifested a desire to assist the people of town on Monday last in combatting the destructive element of fire. On seeing the smoke of the burning building on that day, Capt. Hull and assistants, with surprising alacrity, hitched their whole fire apparatus, hand engine, hose cart, hook and ladder truck and all, behind several teams and came down from the Camp in an incredibly short space of time, and tendered their assistance. Such generous and prompt action deserves special commendation and is fully appreciated by the citizens of Cheyenne, among whom the proceeding was generally and thankfully commented upon. We speak in behalf of a universal sentiment when we tender the officers and men of Camp Carling, the most hearty thanks of the people of this place.
