FARISH STREET SATURDAY NIGHT: It ain't always 'xactly so in the way my grandma used to say it back when I was a boy but what she used to say was when ever folks git to talking bout you done got to be somebody ...what Grandma was talking bout was when folks starts to down-right lying 'bout you . . . but when folks starts to talking bout you and everything dey say is the truth right there shining lack the nose on your face when they used to grease it with vasoline, well, you aint nobody . ..I got to thinking long these lines while I was settin down eating ma feesh and drinking my beer while listening to Aine Haggar's Chillun what comes t town only every Satdee nite at noos more'n what them that's bere ever-day give 'em credit talking about who is and who aint 'mongst them that thinks they self big and while I was listening I found out some more about the members of the tribe along the lines what I started off to talking 'bout . .. You show done got to the place where you 'needs pity when folks thats knowed you be- fore and when looks at you and says . . .
HE THINKS HE'S SOMETHING and 'mongst the members of the tribe you're show-nuff gitting laid low when they say that you thinks you're some- thing . . . and there's where I al- ,ways says theres so much sense 'mongst Aine Haggar's Chillun that you aint likely to run across while you're purchase-suing one of them-there ph'd's, which is what Iheard one of the members of the tribe say was some kinda 'fliction of de mind dat deys done gone to calling eddycashun. I had to think a long time before I could ketch- up with what the Chillun means when they say HE THINKS HE'S SOMETHING it means that you done started acting lack what you aint before where you git. where you aim to go . . . and aint give other folks time to start thinking you something, which 'mongst Aine Haggar's Chillun is jess lack it is 'mongst the other tribes . . . If you done gone to thinking you're big before you git there dont start to acking-lack-it cause you is' show gitting laid-low when every where you go folks what once used to know looks ups and says . ..
