Long Distance Rates To Be Reduced

A cut rate on intra-state long distance telephone calls went into effect in Virginia Sunday.

The rate cut ordered by the State Corporation Commission will save telephone users an estimated $280,000 a year.

Persons making station-to-station long distance calls will benefit most, though there also will be some reduction in person to person calls.

Also going into effect last Sunday was a new 15 cent charge on third number calls, in which the caller instructs the operator to charge the call to another number.
