Winners of the Wayne Oratory contest at Wayne University were announced during ceremonies after the competition which was held at the University Theatre, December 10.
First prize of $25 in the women's division was awarded to Noreen Compton, 300 Cortland; second prize of $15 was given to Ernestine Pinkston, 6342 Colfax; and third prize of $10 went to Judy Aaron, 1200 Berkshire.
In the men's division, four prizes of $25, $15, $10, and $5 were awarded respectively to Robert E. Lee, 8614 W. Vernor; Maurice Williams, 5235 Bewick; Norman Hyman, 17160 Stoepel; and Sherwood Auger, 6851 Bingham.
Miss Compton and Lee will represent Wayne in the Michigan Intercollegiate Oratorical contest on March 5 at Hope College, Holland, Michigan.
Presentation of the awards was made by Dr. Lloyd A. Cook, acting associate dean of administration. Judges were Professors George Bohman and Rupert L. Cortright, Associate Professors Elizabeth Youngjohn and Eugene Bahn, and Assistant Professor George Hnids, all of Wayne's speech department.
