The letter literally translated is thus : "In the name of God -there is no force or power but comes from God-To the Dutch Consul, Blount-safety to those who follow the law--we have received your letter-- a good understanding and perfect harmony subsists between your nation and us-we are desirous that it should continue--written the 22d of the moon."
The above letter, in Europe, is admired as a model of laconic perfection ; and his Moorish Majesty is thought. from this specimen, to be adept in the art of saying a great deal in a few words --Short as it is, however, we suspect his epistle is capable of being made still shorter. viz. Mynbeer Blount-Pay the annual tribute immediately, or abide by the consequence !
