Airman Second Class Lester H. Perkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Perkins, of Route 1, Cumberland Road, Farmville, reported for duty at Castle Air Force Base, Merced, Calif., on August 6.

Airman Perkins was stationed at Pusan East Air Base, Korea, before transferring to Castle, a B-50 superfortress unit of the 15th Air Force located in the heart of California's San Joaquin Valley.

A former student at Farmville High School, Airman Perkins entered the Air Force in December, 1951.
