of a stranger what a mother sacri-
fices to make a man of her son.
The youth was Walter Schmidt, 18,
607 Clinton St.
He was arraigned on a charge of
burglary, having stolen a $40 over-
coat and $92 in cash and jewelry
from George Schoeneman, 611 Clinton
St.
Mrs. Charlotte Schmidt, the youth's
mother, testified that she has been
unable to make the boy mind her. She
declared that on various occasions
the youth stole money from her and
never told her the truth.
With tears in her eyes and her
voice choked with sobs, the mother
told of how she daily prepared lunch
for the youth which he was to take
