The Charleston Courier, of Sept. 29, states, that a gentleman from Bordeaux has favoured them with information that it was currently reported and believed in France, that Buonaparte had proposed to England, that he would guarantee to the Duke of York, the kingdom of America; give all the French possessions in India to the British, and acknowledge George III. as King of Great-Britain and Emperor of the East. Great-Britain, in return to cede Jamaica to France; that Bonaparte had offered to Spain the kingdom of Portugal, in exchange for Cuba and some provinces on the Bay of Biscay. The latter to be erected into an independent kingdom for Jerome, for whom a princess of Spain had been demanded in marriage. The arrangement was, at first, refused by the Spanish Government.
