Event Details
Mount Etna still belched steam and molten lava today from a constantly increasing number of craters near the top of its rotted north slope, creating a lurid display which drew a crowd of sightseers to threatened Passo Pisciaro. Activity of the 10,000-foot volcano had been uninterrupted since flashes of flame first were seen shooting from it a week ago today. For the second time since the present eruption started the rolling lava seemed today to be slowing to a halt on all fronts.
