MISCELLANY.

From the Norristown Herald.

REFLECTION ON A MAY MORNING.

To a mind susceptible of tender and pleasing sensations, the face of nature, when decorated with vernal beauty, affords exquisite delight. The spreading foliage of the trees, and the rich verdure of the fields and meadows attract fond admiration--but the scene is beautifully enlivened by the profusion and variety of flowers, which serve as ornaments, even to beauty itself. When the morning sun first sheds his luminous rays over the fair creation, and his exhilarating rays cause the flowers to expand to full perfection what a transporting prospect opens to view. How enchanting the season, when all nature thus smiles around:--The senses are feasted with a sweet exhalation of fragrant odours, and the ear is charmed with the melody of the feathered songsters of the grove. While these, and numerous other beauties conspire to render the morning walk inexpressibly delightful, they kindle within the breast a secret rapture, and lead a contemplative mind to the kindness and beneficence of that divine Being, who annually "reneweth the face of the earth"-- who not only dresses the scene to cheer the imagination--but, also causes the products of the earth to spring up and flourish for the sustenance of man. Happy is he, who is led by a survey of these delightful objects, to "Look thro' nature, up to nature's God," and, in a true spirit of devotion offers a tribute of gratitude to the Author of all good.
