Eastford

Schools are closed this week for the eight week vacation period.

Mrs. Henry Day was hostess to The Ladies Aid Society on Wednesday afternoon.

Mrs. Mary Leonard entertained the Knitting Club at her home on Tuesday evening.

Miss Blandina Gurnee returned to her home here on Wednesday after a trip of several weeks in Southern States.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Carpenter have returned from their honeymoon to Oklahoma and are at home at the Carpenter farm.

Mr. and Mrs. James Byres are entertaining their daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Wheeler and two children of New Jersey this week.

daughter Grace of Hopkinton, Mass., and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Putnam of Southbridge, were in town on Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Bowen entertained Mrs. Bowen's sister, Mrs. Alice Seabury and her son and daughter-in-law of Spencer, Mass., on Sunday.

Miss Lillian Huntington, Mrs. H. L. Tatem and Mrs. Robert Froehlich were in charge of the Food Sale and exhibit of antiques, curios and hobbies held at the Chapel on Thursday afternoon.

Miss Mary Potter of North Woodstock is visiting cousins in Berlin, after having been the guest of Mrs. Charles Tatem since their return from Florida.

Mrs. John Tatem and two sisters, the Misses Eleanor and Signe Peterson of Pomfret, attended the Town and Town Concerts at Storrs on Sunday evening. A fourth sister, Miss Doris Peterson of Willimantic was one of the singers.

Herman and Clement Barlow motored to Schenectady, N. Y., on Sunday. With them were Harmon Marvin and his sister, Miss Barbara Marvin, who were returning to their home in Schenectady after a week's visit here with their friends.
